For each array position, the number array holds information on 5 separate characteristics on each of the numbers (or number groups) contained within the string. These are its

• numeric value
  
• start position within the string
  
• the string length including a full point or associated commas
  
• the ascii code of the non-numeric character immediately preceding the number string
  
• the ascii code of the non-numeric character immediately following the number string.
  

Additionally there a worksheet functions that identify

• the maximum value present in a string
  
• the minimum value present in a string
  
• the value of the number present at or to the immediate right of a specified position within a string
  

Remarks

The number array recognises positive values only. You may be able to use the preceding and subsequent character values to identify negative numbers.
